γ-Mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane (KH-592, CAS:14814-09-6) is thiol-functional silane coupling agent, colorless to pale yellow transparent liquid. It contains reactive mercapto group (-SH) and hydrolyzable triethoxy groups. Compared with trimethoxy KH-590, it features slower hydrolysis rate and better storage stability. The hydrolyzed silanol can firmly bond with silica, white carbon black, metal oxides, glass fiber and other inorganic fillers. Mercapto groups can react with rubber, epoxy resin and other polymer matrices, improving filler dispersion and interfacial adhesion, enhancing wear and tear resistance of rubber goods, as well as boosting coating and adhesive adhesion to metal substrates. It is suitable for light-colored rubber, metal anti-corrosion and other systems.
