N-octyl triethoxysilane
N-octyltriethoxysilane is a long-chain alkylsilane, colorless transparent liquid. It consists of n-octyl group and three hydrolyzable ethoxy groups. Ethoxy groups hydrolyze into silanol under moisture and form chemical bonds with hydroxyl groups on inorganic substrates. The long alkyl chain provides excellent hydrophobic and antifouling properties, and it has good compatibility with non-polar resins such as polyolefin, widely applied for long-term hydrophobic modification of building materials and inorganic powders.
