Methyltrimethoxysilane
Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) is an alkylsilane product, colorless transparent liquid. Its molecule contains one methyl group and three hydrolyzable methoxy groups. Methoxy groups can hydrolyze into silanol under moisture and condense with hydroxyl groups on inorganic substrates. The methyl group endows the system with hydrophobicity and organic compatibility. It has multiple functions including crosslinking, surface modification and hydrophobic protection, with controllable reactivity, suitable for sol-gel and room-temperature vulcanized silicone systems.
