Cetyltrimethoxysilane

Hexadecyltrimethoxysilane (HDTMS) is an ultra-long chain alkylsilane, colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid at room temperature. It contains hexadecyl group and three hydrolyzable methoxy groups. Methoxy groups hydrolyze into silanol under moisture and chemically bond with hydroxyl groups on inorganic substrates. The ultra-long hexadecyl chain endows substrates with low surface energy and excellent superhydrophobic, antifouling and weather-resistant properties. It is widely used for stone cultural relic protection, hydrophobic modification of inorganic powders and preparation of fluorine-free superhydrophobic coatings.
